The Departed
Never have I left a movie theatre before and had the fear of being shot in the head instilled in me...until now. Shot in the freaking head. S-H-O-T in the H-E-A-D. Even after saying this, I still enjoyed this movie and highly recommend it. How is this possible?
Well, let me begin at the beginning. I walked into this movie and immediately embraced the deep Bostonian accents(I guess cursing like a sailor also comes with the territory?) with the "Pok the cah in Ha-vud yod" and what-not. Also the plot had the twists and turns and ups and downs that kept it very interesting.
This cast was definitely the cream of the crop. Alec Baldwin and Mark Wahlberg were snot-inducingly funny with their uncensored and sometimes deranged dialogue. And how about these two words, Jack Nicholson. Do I really have to say more?
Ok, I will. ;)
Let us not forget our two leading men; a Mr. Matt Damon and Mr. Leonardo DiCaprio. Whilst trying not giving away any of the juicy details I will just say you will fall in love with one character and end up hating the other(yes, this will happen even if you are a dude. Deal with it.) I mean, how do you get all of these great actors into one movie? I will tell you how. You have Martin Scorsese direct it, that's how. Oh yeah, I guess money doesn't hurt either.
So while there is a fair share of ketchup splattering in this cinematic feature, if you keep your hands at neck level throughout you can pretty much cover your eyes at the appropriate moments and enjoy the rest of this intense and rather thought provoking film.
