The working game

SO I have been working a ton. I mean, 6 days a week and every other sunday. It's a little crazy but I haven't gotten burnt out yet. I think it's because Mon-Thurs my shifts are pretty short and I get out at a reasonable time for the most part. Plus I'm poor so outside of work it's not like I can go do anything extravagant. Today I have the whole day off and I am ecstatic. I need to go to the library, return some stuff at old navy, go running, wash clothes, and then do a whole lotta nothing. :)

Wow

I get along with most everyone. I'm easy-going and I have a high threshold for dumb and annoying people. Well, for some reason these 2 coworkers of mine bug the heck out of me. Maybe it's because every time I run into them they are trying to act cool and often come off as jerks, big time. They're always making little remarks about me not doing my job and I just want to drop-kick them. Or they'll say things like "maybe Tina messed it up and that's why it's not working". Why can't they just be professional and talk to me like a normal person instead of acting like they are 12 year old pre-pubescent boys? I'm soo annoyed. The biggest problem is they don't even get their social inept-ness. I mean, when someone's on the phone, do you really have to lean over her desk and STARE at her until she hangs up? Seriously. They're just dumb.

The point of all of this is I actually let them get to me and I end up getting angry with them. Today I told them to just go away. Humph.

Chi-town

I went for a whirlwind 2.5 day trip to Chicago to see if it was my kind of town. Turns out, it is. It's really pretty great here. There's a theatre on every other corner as well as museums and culture galore. I love it!!!

This morning I just happened to be walking by the Theatre School at DePaul University and noticed that they were putting on a production of "Alice in Wonderland" so I decided to buy a ticket despite the busloads of kids being herded into the theatre. It was actually a very enjoyable performance and they had some cool puppet effects for the cheshire cat. I love seeing different interpretations of the show. It's just very clever.

I feel like walked thru the entire town today(well it felt like it anyway). I got to see the giant shiny bean at Millenium Park and walked down to the ginormous Field museum to see my girl SUE(the biggest T-Rex ever found!) They have a replica head on her skeleton because her head is too heavy to place on it. If you go upstairs they have her head in this glass container and it is sooo crazy bizarre to look at. It's kind of smashed in and she's missing teeth and stuff. They have a bunch of taxidermy-like animals at the museum. Every corner I turned around had some kind of furry life-like creature staring back at me while posed in some kind of forced position. It was weird but cool I guess. I just hoped the animals died of natural causes and not because they needed to fill space in a museum.

To round out the evening I had to go see a performance at the Second City. The mainstage players were performing in "America All Better"(I think that was the name) and it was pretty funny with lots of Obama references and current topics like the economy and blogjavich or however you spell his name. After the first 2 acts the players surprised us with a third round of all improv, which was great. It also made me aware of how I could definitely be up there with them performing. I'm thinking that I'm capable of bringing some good improv stuff to ye olde improv table...or something like that. This show fueled my improv fire.

Random Poem I Found

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road your trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing your down a bit
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint on the clouds of doubt,
And you can never tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar.
So, stick to the fight when your hardest hit
It's when things go wrong that you mustn't quit.

Wow

In the past week I've run a 1/2 marathon, tapped danced and performed improv comedy in a variety show, and celebrated my birthday. Now I'm getting a much deserved massage today. Thank Goodness.

What's next?

CHICAGO BABY!

Noise with a side of Loud

They've been searching for the source of a foul smelling odor in the office. The pungent aroma is that of a dead animal although my theory was leaning towards some kind of septic leakages. After they(does it matter who?) cut a hole in the ceiling to check it out, they made more noise closing up the hole they made in the ceiling. Now the industrial strength vacuum is running and I'm blogging.

Ok they're done.

Oh yeah, we still have no clue what's causing the smell.

Good morning

Bum bum be dum bum bum de dum dum...

It's a good day. Yes, I am at work, but for some reason I know it's going to be a fantastical day. I don't know why. maybe I'll see a tunicorn, or maybe I'll get to leave work early, or maybe, just maybe the job that I've been going after will actually call me with good news.

I hope it's not something stupid like finding a penny face up.
