Tina's day off

hmm..doesn't quite have the same ring as "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" now, does it? Oh well, I'm not exactly skipping school or anything. What did I accomplish on this oh so beautiful day in March 2006? Well I recycled some paper and magazines this morning. Now, normally this task would make me feel like a better humanitarian, but today I went to this recycle place that I looked up on the internet. I might add that this place is just 4 minutes from my house and I am somewhat of a terrible human being for not knowing this earlier after my 16 years of living here and not recycling a plethora of recyclables. Digression aside, I go to this new place, and they have big metal bins set up for collecting office paper, cardboard, magazines, cans, etc. Here's the rub. The containers did not have lids. What the??? There were loose papers flying around everywhere!! Did they think that notebook paper would stay in an open container without a lid on it. Have they heard off wind??????? How am I supposed to feel good about recycling when half of the junk doesn't even stay in the bin. Grrr. People people people. Tsk tsk tsk.

Oh yeah, and then I went to the all exlusive Goodwill store. Apparently they are now picky as to what they accept into their facility. An employee told me they don't accept seasonal items or rollerblades. I didn't have any seasonal items, but I did have rollerblades. Perfectly functional rollerblades. Come on, I've seen used toilets in there! Used. Toilets. And phones that don't work, and stinky shoes, and stained clothing, and broken knick knacks, but hey, if they wanna play that game I'll be happy to come back after dark and leave my junk there like all of the other anonymous donaters. It's either there or the dump. Ehh.

I didn't know Goodwill was picky.

I didn't know there was a recycling place.

Matt and I passed at least 3 landfills on I95 South. It was pretty gross. They are the biggest hills I've seen in Florida...
