I was watching Grosse Pointe Blank the other day on TV, and I heard that song and mentioned to Caleb that Germany came very close to being a pop powerhouse in the 80's. Of course, they never quite made it there.
Caleb mentioned that he thought of all the covers he had heard, Goldfinger did the best job with it.
Myself, I can't listen to any version of this song. Something about the melody or the words is just too poppy. Or maybe it's because the song was an actual part of my college German curriculum.
